AMI is organized by the Colorado Network of Women Leaders, which started in 1986 as part of a charge from the American Council on Education (ACE) to increase the number of women who served as college and university presidents or who held advanced leadership positions in institutions of higher education in the United States.

Since 1985, more than 1,200 women leaders from more than 30 institutions of higher education across Colorado and Wyoming have participated in the Academic Management Institute.

4 Conference-Style Events Per Academic Year

SESSIONS

The yearly institute is comprised of 4 conference-style sessions scheduled to suit the ebbs and flows of an academic calendar: October, November, January, March.

Each session includes 3-5 guest presenters who speak to a session's theme and from their expertise. Often presenters are local to the region or from the sponsoring college.

Each session is organized around a broad topic of information and skill building for women professionals in higher education in the twenty-first century.

PARTICIPANTS

Institute participants must be nominated and sponsored by their home institutions. Participants must be able to attend all 4 conference-style sessions of the institute

Each year's cohort is comprised of 40-50 participants.
